Hold up.

I got the cart before the horse just a bit.

Before you start DMing, you need to start engaging.

The single best way to get noticed by potential clients and build a network is to go nuts with engaging.

Be all over the timeline.

Do as much as is within your power.

Why?

Because comments are mini-outreach messages.

It’s putting your message and personality out there for people to see.

(and it’s also reason #3,057 not to use ChatGPT to write all your stuff)

Here’s the tactics I use to get on the right radars:

This is how you get people into your funnel.

Pick big (>100,000 followers) accounts that are in or adjacent to your niche, and leave funny or thoughtful replies.

These accounts get in front of the people you want to get in front of.

Commenting on their posts will get their followers to visit your profile, and if it’s optimized, convert them to followers.

Spend most of your time doing this.

Add enough value under these posts, and you’ll find people reaching out to you.

But you also need to post your own stuff.

And when people comment on your stuff, engage with them.

Reply to every single comment and message.

Show appreciation and provide value.

Speaking of showing appreciation, DM new followers.

Thank them for following you.

You don’t have to do much more than this.

But you certainly can.

And it can turn into a real relationship.

Finally, don’t forget to stay engaged with your people.

Set notifications, put them in lists, and comment/like your heart out.

It’s called social media for a reason.

Pick the right people who are genuinely great thinkers and this part is easy.
