Why I used to hate writing
Featuring the one cool thing Henry Ford said
I used to hate writing.
Even though I was good at it.
All A's in high school and college. Without trying.
Meanwhile I was convinced I loved math. And it was a struggle to get B+/A-s.
All it amounted to was a self belief that I "hated" writing.
There was no one in my personal life (extremely blue collar upbringing) that was a writer.
I believed this until I learned that my heroes were all writers.
Now, I'm obsessed and write every single day.
I love it. It gives me energy. And, its a core skill that I'm building my future around.
Beliefs are powerful. The world is shaped by what you believe is true and what you believe isn't true.
They constantly run in the background of your mind, shaping thoughts, decisions, and actions.
But here’s the thing: our beliefs aren’t necessarily true OR accurate.
You need to examine each one with a deep space telescope.
If it doesn't measure up to the stuff that gives you energy and solves problems in your life, chuck it out the window.
Some of them are good, and help you get to the next level! But others are limiting.
These limiting beliefs hold us back from reaching our full potential, or optimal life.
How can you recognize these beliefs?
Well, it’s simply the stuff you say to yourself and/or friends and family. Usually, they manifest as sentences that start with “I can’t”, “I’m not”, “I am” or “I can.”
These are belief statements.
And when you say them, they become self-fulfilling prophecies.
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." - Henry Ford
(not the biggest Henry Ford fan; but love the product, not the product-maker, like old saying goes)
Once you have this awareness shift, you’ll understand that beliefs can be changed.
Just because someone (or you) told you that you were or weren’t capable of something doesn’t mean it’s true.
You have the power to change your reality.
All it takes is an awareness shift and a willingness to change.
This is optimal.
