Tales from the tour bus (my VW Atlas)
the obstacle is the way
GM!
This is going to be a short one today.
I am up to my eyeballs in projects.
9-5, side work, gigs out of town etc.
Whenever things get this hectic, I have the tendency to pull back and focus on the things that I know I can control (which aren’t necessarily the things I need to).
But as I continue on my OPTIMAL journey, I’ve recognized that deficiency…
And I’m working to correct it.
How?
Well, each time I feel that resistance to an action (writing a proposal, making a call, etc) I lean into it.
Most of the time, there is a resistance because the outcome is unknown. It’s a fear thing. We’ve never done this before, my mind says, what if something really bad is waiting on the other side?
The problem with this line of thinking is that I’ve lost Chevy Silverado-sized opportunities from not taking the actions I needed to in the moment.
But no more.
The obstacle is the way as the Stoics say.
I’m going all in.
So, where are you feeling that resistance right now?
My challenge to you is to find it, and then lean into it.
Chances are, that is the path you need to be taking.
Cheers,
Swanagan
