The method for mental clarity and endless ideas
Solutions are in the silence
Ok y’all, I came up with a whole nother growth strategy last night.
I started this daily email list 3 months ago.
But subscriber growth has been slow.
So, I came up with a growth roadmap last night while laying in bed.
Once the plan formed in my head, 1,000 ideas immediately filled my brain AND I got a ton of motivation to execute.
Lesson: the solutions are in the silence.
This feeling of sitting still with no direction sucks.
And it’s because you (and I) have too many inputs.
In my case, I had WAY too many X/LinkedIn/email notifications (distractions) obliterating my phone yesterday.
Most of them were of people I know that are CRUSHING it online.
While I was reading these posts at my desk at work trying to meet deadlines, the voice in my head was like “You are falling behind! These jiveturkeys are going to LAP you while you’re working for customers you don’t like.”
And… “You have no idea what you’re doing. You should rethink your whole strategy.”
It was demotivating.
The choice in that moment was to either start over from scratch and try to copy someone else’s strategy,
OR….
Keep iterating on what’s working for me, stay true to my voice, and keep working on the type of content that I can work on forever.
Here’s the thing…
You already know what to do, but focusing on other’s progress and outputs makes you uncertain.
The solution:
Scale back your consumption.
Read less social media.
Create more content.
Read more books.
Sit with stillness.
The path has 2-fold benefits: more ideas and less stress.
And it’s how I came up with my new email growth strategy.
I’ll share it with y’all tomorrow.
