Drowning in emails? I gotchu
1 tactical tip
Hello boys and girls,
I’ve been swimming in emails recently.
My newsletter signup frenzy caught up to me.
Like 1,000 unread in my inbox, caught up.
Yikes.
But, today I took care of it.
And I’ll show you how I did it.
(note, this is for all of you Gmail users)
Let’s go!
Does your inbox look like this?
Great, we are on the same page.
First thing we are going to do is open one of the emails from a sender you want to start with.
I picked Nick Huber here. GREAT emails, btw.
Then, click the elipsis on the right hand side, and select “Filter messages like this”
Make sure that the sender email is in the “From” field. Sometimes Gmail messes this up and puts a weird value here.
Then click “Create filter”
Now, the boxes you want to check are “Skip the inbox (Archive it)” and “Apply the label:”
If you don’t have a label for this creator, select “New label…”
Put in a good name (right on the nose as mine is here) and click “Create”:
Then just click “Create filter” and you’re good to go.
The next step is to copy the email address:
Then paste it into the search bar:
Select all emails and label with the new label you created:
Finally, archive all of the messages:
All archiving does is remove it from the Inbox grouping. This way all the messages will only show in the labeled folder you created.
And that’s it!
Now, I realize I just gave you a way to stop opening my emails.
But, if it helps y’all keep a more organized inbox, I’ll take it.
Onward and upward,
Swanagan
