Almost broke my streak
Save your condescension, Duolingo Owl
Full disclosure, I wrote this email last night. Didn’t send it then because it felt too late.
But the point is, I’ve written an email a day for the last 2 weeks! If I keep it up for 1 more week, it’ll be a habit.
So, no breaking the momentum.
There’s been so many times in my life that I’ve lost momentum. Once it’s gone, I’ve found it’s almost impossible to get back.
There was the engineering consulting business I started with a buddy right out of college.
An HR service business that myself and another buddy started 3 years ago.
The IT services business that me and 2 other friends started 2 years ago.
None of them worked out.
We started strong, but lost momentum.
In each case, the failure could be attributed to a lack of focus. Each of the businesses were good ideas, and had legs. But I never gave them the focus and time that would have made them successful. I had split my attention across too many verticals.
I won’t make that mistake anymore.
This is a streak I’m going to keep up with. Even if it is a slow burn, or my energy wanes.
"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."
So, stick it out with me.
Show up on X, even if it means posting 1 platitude a day.
Write and send that 150-word email.
Workout in the gym for 10 minutes.
It all counts.
Let’s keep it going.
See you tomorrow,
Swanagan Ray
