A rule to live by
Learned this from Sahil Bloom
I missed sending an email yesterday.
Now, when stuff like this happened in the past where I fell of the wagon, I would spiral from there.
In this case, I broke my every-weekday-email-for-10-weeks string.
But I’m not going to let it get me down.
Why?
Well, dear reader, because I have adopted this mental framework in the past year.
It’s useful for:
Staying consistent in the gym
Losing weight and hitting macro/calorie numbers
Getting new business with consistent outreach, etc
So, what is it?
Glad you asked…
It’s called The Rule of 2.
The Rule of 2
I learned this from Sahil Bloom’s newsletter. Not sure who came up with it, but it’s super powerful.
The idea is this:
You can skip 1 day, but not 2 days in a row.
So I missed yesterday writing my email, but that is ok. I just can’t miss today.
I missed yesterday’s workout. That’s ok, I just can’t miss today.
The reason that it’s so effective is that it gives you some wiggle room.
Life happens. Things come up. You’ll miss a day.
That’s ok.
Just don’t miss 2 days in a row.
Cheers,
Swanagan
