2024 planning guide

All of my goals in 1 easy place!

As promised, here is my plan for 2024.

I’ll save my 2023 review for Monday. I was going to combine them today, but I think that’s too much for 1 email.

As I explained in the email yesterday, I use a combination of Codie Sanchez’s BRIMMM system paired with Sahil Bloom’s annual planning process. 

Here are my 2024 goals for each of the categories. Let’s go!

Body

What do I want?

(1) I will get a 6-pack this year.

(2) Run a half-marathon in 1 hour and 45 minutes

(3) Stay in the 1,000 lb club

What don't I want? (Anti-goals)

  • I don't want to get injured trying to lift or run too much.

  • I don't want to mess my metabolism up cutting my calories.

How will I get there? (Daily systems)

  • Track all food and drink intake and stick to the caloric intake and protein numbers.

  • Do a 36-hour fast 1x/week and track with the Zero app.

  • Go to the gym 5x/week, focusing on progressive overload weight training. Track with Fitbod.

  • Run 3x/week.

  • Use the sauna 2x/week.

  • Do a cold plunge 2x/month.

Relationships

What do I want?

(1) Be an amazing dad to Zooey, Eli, and Cohen. Be available and present.

(2) Be an amazing husband to Tai.

(3) Build relationships with high performers based on mutual respect.

What don't I want? (Anti-goals)

  • I don't want to be disingenuous or self-serving in any relationship.

  • Engage in take-only relationships. Sever these relationships with energy vampires.

How will I get there? (Daily systems)

  • Make time on the calendar to be "super dad" and "super husband" where my phone is off and I am not online.

  • Read more books about fatherhood.

  • Do more outreach on social media and IRL to people I admire.

Impact

What do I want?

(1) Grow my personal email list to 1,000 subs.

(2) Grow Twitter following to 10,000.

(3) Start a YouTube channel.

(4) Finish newsletter book

(5) Start principles book

What don't I want? (Anti-goals)

  • I don't want any of my content to come across as click-bait. Each piece of content should be useful and valuable to my audience.

How will I get there? (Daily systems)

(1) 30 minutes of focused reading

(2) 60 minutes of focused writing every day (minus Sunday). 

  • 1 email a day. 

  • Work on books

(3) 30 minutes of social media posting

  • 3 X threads/long forms a week

  • 3 posts a day

  • 1 YouTube video a week

Mind

What do I want?

(1) Become a clearer, more focused thinker that relies on mental models to make decisions and convey information.

  • This will translate to better writing and speaking

(2) Focus on activities that utilize my superpowers and give me energy.

What don't I want? (Anti-goals)

  • To do activities that take my energy away.

  • To engage in mental masturbation.

How will I get there? (Daily systems)

  • Meditate with the Calm app 6x/week.

  • Write daily in the morning for 30 minutes immediately upon waking up.

  • Journal for 10 minutes every night.

  • Keep track of mental models that I use and want to use with my second brain.

Money

What do I want?

(1) Build my side income stream to $20k/month

What don't I want? (Anti-goals)

  • I don't want to get distracted by other projects. No shiny object syndrome.

How will I get there? (Daily systems)

  • Be intentional about outreach. Do 10 units of outreach a day (calls, DMs, emails, etc)

  • Work 20 hours a week on agency projects.

Mastery

What do I want?

(1) Master sales.

(2) Master marketing and communication.

What don't I want? (Anti-goals)

  • To be a spammy seller.

  • To market solutions I don't believe in or wouldn't use myself.

How will I get there? (Daily systems)

  • Write every day.

  • Do outreach every day.
