Simple and effective
Good morning!
Was just checking my X stats this morning, and was pleasantly surprised by all of the green:
So, what’s changed in the past 7 days?
Well, I started passing all of my content through a couple of filters.
Filters that make me either toss the post or hit full send.
It all comes down to 2 questions…
If the CEO of a Fortune 500 company saw this, would they become less or more interested?
Is it shareable?
Let’s dive in…
——— ᨒ↟———
The first point I got from a Tim Ferriss interview where he was talking about content.
Before he publishes a blog post, he asks: “If the CEO of a Fortune 500 company saw this, would they become less or more interested?” If less, then Tim doesn’t put it out.
And Tim is a guy who knows.
He’s at podcast #721. And each episode is an ultra-high performer that you would recognize.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ray Dalio, Shane Parrish, etc.
Definitely a guy that is qualified to know what Fortune 500 CEOs would find useful.
So how have I been making my content more CEO-worthy?
For starters, these guys don’t have a lot of time and want concrete info. So, use real-world examples and get to the point, fast.
And then, through the lens of optimalization I’m focusing on the following areas:
CEOs, in my experience, love book recommendations. So, I’m putting emphasis on books, courses, and other continuous learning opportunities.
Running a business is really hard, so techniques for maintaining focus, resilience, and clarity are useful.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to making better decisions. Sharing tools and techniques for making these better is always welcome.
No matter who you are, everybody wants to be in better physical condition. So, I’ve been posting more about my fitness journey.
The second filter: is it shareable?
The goal with all social media should be to make it shareable.
What does shareable mean?
It means that your stuff is impactful enough that your audience wants to tell their friends.
"Impact = writing words so powerful that they live in their head rent-free. It occupies their attention even when their attention is off of your content. They tell their friends and co-workers about your ideas because they want to strengthen the shared extreme beliefs they have to feel validated." - Dan Koe
This means you have to write with authority, intelligence, and charisma.
Your stuff should make people look smart to their friends when they share it.
And it comes from an abundance mindset.
Don’t be afraid to give away your knowledge. If it elevates your reader’s status they will keep coming back to the source.

Since I’ve been using these filters, my content has started to pop off.
Now that I have my world to build (email from Saturday) and my 2 books that drive content, these filters seem to have been the missing piece.
So, before you send your next post today, ask:
If the CEO of a Fortune 500 company saw this, would they become less or more interested?
Is it shareable?
Later,
Swanagan
P.S., If you found this shareable, I’ll send you a t-shirt:
